From Monday Blues to Blue Skies: Andrew Triphon’s Cirrus Story

For ADCO CEO Andrew Triphon, a Cirrus SR22T has turned his weekly commute into something worth looking forward to.

Andrew Triphon looks forward to his Monday mornings. Not just because it kicks off a new week expanding his Los Angeles-based ADCO Roofing and Waterproofing empire. No, Monday mornings are when he gets to fly his new Cirrus SR22T G7+.

The routine is the same: wheels up from Van Nuys Airport, north of Los Angeles, and one or two hours depending on the location you pick, including Las Vegas, Phoenix, Reno, San Jose, or Sacramento. He lands at a modern FBO near his business operation, manages work and is home in time for dinner with his family.

“Second to spending time with family, this is the most satisfying thing I do. It’s freedom, combined with challenge and exhilaration. I do look forward to my Mondays. Such a great start to the week,” says Triphon, ADCO’s owner and CEO.

Taking delivery of the Cirrus SR Series G7+ in June 2025, Triphon received the latest model equipped with Safe Return™ Emergency Autoland. He chose the world’s best-selling single-engine piston aircraft, the SR22T G7+, with its turbocharger 315-horsepower engine, and ground-breaking Cirrus Airframe Parachute System® (CAPS®) and Safe Return™ Emergency Autoland. Color-wise, he selected a two-tone white-and-gray exterior, with gray leather and black cabin accents.

“It’s my first plane, and I couldn’t be happier. It took a while to make the leap because I first had to convince my wife, Sally, that I really needed one. Only after she’d watched video after video of the CAPS parachute system in action and heard how it had saved so many lives, and then saw how Safe Return works, did she agree,” says Triphon.

“She’s now flown with me a bunch of times, mostly to Vegas and Napa Valley. She went from timid to OK, then after our last trip to Napa, she’s saying how we really need to use the plane more often,” he adds.

Currently, Triphon is working with Van Nuys–based Cirrus Platinum Training Center Mach 1 Aviation and one of its Cirrus Standardized Instructor Pilots, Mark Hummel, to earn his private pilot’s license. Hummel accompanies Triphon on his flights and was there when he did his first solo flight in the Cirrus last June.

Triphon says he decided to join the Cirrus family after feeling that flying commercial was draining the life out of him. “We currently have 11 ADCO divisions across five states, and I have to visit all of them. The delays, the lines, the hassles. It was exhausting. I used to hate Monday mornings,” he explains.

“Now I can drive to my hangar at Van Nuys, have the thrill of climbing in the Cirrus and flying to a small airport FBO, and feel energized when I arrive. I can often do a round trip in a day, while flying commercial often meant a night in a hotel. Owning the plane changes everything.”

As for the support he’s received from Cirrus, Triphon says he couldn’t be happier. “The owner experience has been comprehensive and seamless. When you’re buying, you’re not just buying a plane; there’s a Cirrus finance arm, an insurance division, complete tech support, and an amazing library of Cirrus Approach flight training videos to help with every little aspect of the plane. And my California Cirrus representative, Michael Koranda, is always just a phone call away. I’m a businessman and understand the importance of great service.”

Triphon explains that, for him, the SR22T provides peace of mind with its integrated safety systems, which is central to his decision to join the Cirrus family. Like so many other owners, it was the ground-breaking whole airframe parachute system that impressed him and his wife the most. In the event of an emergency, a rocket deploys a nylon parachute from the airframe in seconds, allowing the plane to land safely.

Add to that Safe Return™ Emergency Autoland, where, if the pilot was incapacitated, a touch of a big red button initiates a safe, autonomous landing. The aircraft will declare an emergency with air traffic control, then autonomously fly to the nearest suitable airport, communicate with air traffic control, and safely land, bringing the plane to a full stop and shutting down the engine.

“This is amazing technology and no doubt the biggest reason why we went with Cirrus. And the reason we’ll stay with Cirrus—I’ve already put in an order for a new Cirrus SR22T G7+, just like mine. Only this time, we’re going for a really beautiful blue they call Mykonos,” Triphon adds.
